Abu Dhabi one of the leading cities of the Gulf, established a leader position as the first major hydrocarbon-producing economy via its launching of the Masdar initiative .The Masdar Initiative is originally under the control of the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar), a subsidiary of the Mubadala Development Company (Mubadala).  Masdar Initiative is a global platform keen on further researching and producing solutions to some of the most vital issues of today's world such as the following: energy security, climate change, and human expertise development in sustainability.

We believe colleges and universities must exercise leadership in their communities and throughout society by modeling ways to minimize global warming emissions, and by providing the knowledge and the educated graduates to achieve climate neutrality.

A project is underway to reduce the amount of energy used in the building by more than a third, saving millions of dollars a year.

This green makeover is part of a $500m (£340m) refit which the building's owners hope will attract bigger companies paying higher rents.

Former President Bill Clinton's Climate Initiative has helped fund the project.
